Braziers Park is ten miles from Reading is on the edge of the village of Ipsden and close to the town of Wallingford. Click here for map.

By rail: to Reading then taxi or 25-30 mins by bus X39/X40. We can arrange shared taxis.

A retreat to restore and renew - with a special focus on good sleep

A weekend to nourish your body, mind and spirit. In a beautiful spot in the heart of Chilterns, slow down, quieten, and renew your inner resources. Leave feeling relaxed, de-stressed and and equipped with techniques to improve your sleep.

The meditation, yoga and sleep coaching

There will be seven meditation and yoga sessions starting early evening on Friday and finishing on Sunday afternoon. Morning practices will be more invigorating; evenings calming and restoring.

In addition there will be a talk on Friday evening from sleep coach Leona Patterson, drawing on her own experiences and those of coaching good sleep practices for better mental health. Individual sleep coaching sessions can be booked at extra charge.

We will explore a range of meditation and pranayama (breath) practices; plus asana (postures) with an emphasis on developing the ability to find a balance between effort and ease. There will also be evening yoga nidra (deep relaxation), and plenty of time to relax, have a massage or go for a walk.

Gently and safely taught, the weekend is suitable for yogis wanting to expand the subtlety of their awareness within postures and to see what happens when they quieten and go within.

The retreat centre

Braziers Park in the Chiltern Hills is a Grade II* listed building, parts of which date back more than 300 years. It is set in 55 acres in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the edge of the village of Ipsden in south Oxfordshire.

Once the home of James Bond author Ian Fleming, it is run as an educational trust. With an air of faded grandeur, it is a great place for yoga: we will practise in the beautifully lit drawing room and have the run of the rest of the house, including the inner hall with its grand piano and open log fires.

There are plenty of single and shared rooms; hearty vegetarian meals will be served in the panelled dining room, with much of the home-cooked food grown on the Braziers estate.
